abstract:
In this paper the Authors report some recent
results on formulated pellets for aquacultured
species such as crustaceans (crayfish) and echinoderms
(sea urchin). The addition of polysaccharides,
able to create a three-dimensional network
called hydrogel, allows the manufacturing
of pellets characterized by water resistance and
mantainance of the organoleptic characteristics
for long periods of time according to the feeding
behavior of the cultured species. Moreover, the
addition of bioactive molecules (such as byproducts
of the agrofood industry) allows the formulation
of functional pellets.
