A New Look on Concept of 'Translation' in Toreutics and Jewellery: Examples from the Near East and the South Caucasus during the III-II Millennia BC.,

The main goal was to reveal the innovative features identifiable in the south Caucasus at the beginning of the II millennium BC, the developed stage of the Middle Bronze Age. Our research was related to various important advances and their implementation in the local cultural environment which might be considered as a result of translation. It is possible that it was linked to the processes that took place between the South Caucasus and neighbouring civilisations further south. It is these processes which we illustrated through artistic patterns, such as those of toreutics and ornamentation. For this reason, we concentrated largely on elite burials, which are rich in information about prestigious items.
