Abstract:
The paper illustrates the close link between the evolution of archaeological computing and the history of ancient towns and cities. Given the extent of the subject-matter, the paper focuses on Italy's position, not without an explicit reference to the international context, and, given the large number of examples, it is supported by some specific case studies, which are excerpted from the digital repository of the international scholarly Journal "Archeologia e Calcolatori" and rooted in an evolutionary research framework.
