Abstract:
Zeolite crystals of about 500-800 nm in diameter and 1 mm in length have been embedded into polymeric
fibers, the diameters of which ranged from 150 to 600 nm. Fluorescent nanometric wires containing bright
crystals of different colors were obtained by dye-doping the polymer and dye-loading the zeolite crystals. The colors of
both the fibers and the bright zeolite crystals can be easily tuned by changing the dyes inserted in the polymer and in
the zeolites. The zeolite crystals are embedded into the wires with their axes well aligned along the wire axis, providing
polarized emission that reflects the specific dye orientation within the parallel nanochannels of the zeolites.
