Analysis of the hydrodynamical and physico-chemical behaviour of a natural wetland in the Lagoon of Venice

The paper presents the results of the monitoring phase and the main findings of the modelling activities carried out on a sub-basin of the inner Lagoon of Venice, called Palude della Rosa. Due to the beginning of a national project aiming at the environmental restoration of the Lagoon, a detailed monitoring plan has been carried out during the years 1993-1994-1995. Furthermore a very high resolution shallow water equations finite element model has been set-up for the same sub- basin in order to analyse the circulation patterns and the renewal rate of the masses of water.
