Abstract:
Few examples of cities in the past come up to us who were able to exploit the water resources so as to become the engine of growth and development of the community who lived in it. The Syrian city of Hama, wich reaches about 400,000 inhabitants, is one of them. Located in the fertile plains of the Orontes river town along the road from Damascus (South) arrived in Aleppo. The old town is a town planning and architectural gem that could become a river city par excellence. It is the place par excellence where the use of water is the main component of the urban scene. It is the city where there is a lerger and ancient noria dating to the thirteen century.
