Software-controlled cache coherence protocol for multicache systems

In a tightly-coupled multiprocessor system featuring a cache for each processor, an important problem is the maintaining of coherence between the multiple copies of shared data items which may be generated in different caches. The paper presents a multicache coherence protocol which is based on a software control over the cache activities.
