Solvent-mediated reactivity of b-aminoalcohols against dialkyloxalate: synthesis of tetrasubstituted oxalamide and/or morpholin-2,3-dione derivatives.

The reactivity of various b-aminoalcohols with diethyloxalate, in several reaction conditions, has been investigated. Lineal or cyclic derivatives were obtained depending on the nature of the solvent used and the starting material.
