Le migrazioni interne degli stranieri in Italia

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2011
abstract:
Foreigners represent an increasing part of people who move their residence from one to other Italian municipalities. This article aims to explain this aspect of the internal migration phenomenon, trying to answer some main questions. Are there any differences in the internal migration phenomenon, concerning intensity, migratory typologies and directions, between foreigners and Italians? Are there any differences even between foreigners depending on their nationalities? Who much do the personal conditions or the different migratory contexts matter in influencing the internal migrations? In this pattern, is Campania region even a transition area for migration flows or its role is changed over time? The number of foreigners who moved their residence in 1998 was less than 70.000 and in 2006 it became more than 200.000 as a consequence of the general increasing of immigrants presence. The internal migration level of foreigners has always been three times more than the Italians one. The recent immigrant communities are more mobile than the ancient ones, especially if we consider the ancient communities living in the metropolitan areas.
