A.Trypsin Inhibitors Hypothesis The presence of antimetabolic compounds in plants as well as in seeds is frequently associated with resistance to insects. In the past, trypsin inhibitors (TI) were indicated as compounds able to protect cowpea seeds against Callosobruchus maculatus (R). However, a screening of TI content in several lines of cowpea has not confirmed this hypothesis. Further research is needed.
