Abundant Lima bean lectin-related proteins in wild Phaseolus lunatus Andean genotypes

Phaseolus lunatus seeds contain some lectin related proteins, two of them are major components of seed storage proteins. Under non-reducing conditions, the polypeptide aggregates into dimers of aboit 60 kDa as expected for LBL. This highly expressed protein was purified from seeds belonging to the CIAT wild accession G25915, through cation exchange chromatography and its identity assessedby sequencing its N-terminus.
