Reductive Electrophilic Substitution of Diarylmethyl Methyl Ether: Synthetic applications

Abstract The reductive cleavage of diarylmethyl ethers with Li metal in THF led to quantitative formation of the corresponding diarylmethyl anion. Quenching with electrophiles afforded substituted diarylmethanes in good to excellent yields.
