Abstract:
The suppression of inter-ring torsions in quaterthiophenes changes the deactivation path of the excited state leading to the reduction of non-radiative decay and increase of the photoluminescence quantum yield. Tripler transient absorption spectra are strongly affected by central inter-ring bridging, showing features which are tentatively related to different conformers.
