Osservazioni preliminari sul periodo di maturità sessuale di Abra ovata (Mollusca, Pelecypoda) nella laguna di Lesina

The preliminary results of a research aimed to characterise the spawning period of Abra ovata (Mollusca, Bivalvia, Semelidae) from the Lesina lagoon (Southern Adriatic Coast, Italy) are herein reported. The A. ovata density showed a seasonal trend, with the highest levels in May and June, a decline during the winter period followed by a new increase according to the temperature increase. A.ovata mature specimens were recovered from May to August, with a peak in June-July.
