Aggiornamento del Registro Nazionale delle Varietà di Vite - Caratteri attitudinali dei cloni omologati nel 2013

UPDATING OF THE NATIONAL REGISTER CATALOGUE OF GRAPEVINE VARIETIES: MAIN FEATURES OF CLONES REGISTERED IN 2013. The sanitary status of propagation material is a guarantee for establishing top level vineyards; for this reason so the nursery sector is engaged in the diffusion of selected material which in addition meets to the sanitary requirements of the laws in force of current regulations, and at the same time it shows agronomic features suitable to assure different typologies of wines. In recently times, 55 clones belonging to cultivars which have different diffusion on the National territory have entered in the National Register Catalogue of Grapevine Varieties. The greater part of these varieties have international interest (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Primitivo or Zinfandel) but many of them are cultivated in specific regional areas (Cortese, Pigato, Glera, Malvasia Istriana, Foglia Tonda); the new clones show different characters compared to the ones of clones already present in the Catalogue because of the different shape and size of clusters and berries, but also because some of them for delay some different phenology (or bud-burst or veraison-ripening time). The yield per plant is maintained at good levels allowing both wines with greater perfumes and structure endowment - suitable for ageing - but also or fresh and fruity white or rosé wines. The aim of new clones updating is to enlarge the available informations on their characteristics for to permit to potential consumers, wine-growing and oenological sector operators a correct utilization of the new selections. In addition to each clonal description and to the description of the vegeto-productive features (vigor, yield, fertility, bunch size; sensitiveness to the main vine diseases, judgment with indications for its oenological use), a picture of the typical cluster is also reported.
