Conformationally constrained dipeptides: Synthesis of bicyclic lactams by stereoselective radical cyclizations

Regio- and stereoselective radical cyclizations of beta-substituted alpha-N-acetyl acrylamides have been performed. 6,5- and 7,5-fused bicyclic lactams were obtained, which can be viewed as conformationally restricted dipeptide mimetics.
