Acid-promoted formation of radical species from cobalt(III) ?-ketoenolates

The interaction of tris(?-ketoenolato)cobalt(III) complexes with protic acids results in a ligand-metal electron transfer with the formation of a variety of ?-ketoenolyl radicals that can be detected by ESR spectroscopy.
