Abstract:
Th is paper documents the radiological investigation of two pseudo-mummies with human-faced plaster masks from the collections of the National Museum of Lithuania in Vilnius. Following initial study using conventional radiography in 2000, the enigmatic artefacts were subjected to CT scanning in 2013 to allow increased visualisation of their contents and the methods employed in their construction. The radiological investigation revealed that the first mummy was constructed entirely from an organic compound of unknown origin. Th e second appeared to be constructed from linen bandages and human bones.
