The Interplay of Monolayer Structure and Serum Protein Interactions on the Cellular Uptake of Gold Nanoparticles

abstract:
In this work we investigated how serum protein adsorption on NP surfaces infl uences the cellular uptake of NPs. We fi nd that surface hydrophobicity is a critical factor for controlling serum albumin binding, which in turn decreases the cellular uptake of AuNPs.
