SnowTerm is a structured reference multilingual scientific and technical vocabulary, covering the terminology of a specific knowledge domain such as the polar and the mountain environment.SnowTerm collects and organises, within a structure coherent with international standards, the language of this specific sector. This implies the development of a logical structure (semantic network), the identification of synonyms, the organisation into a thematic structure.The thematic areas, covered at present, deal with snow and ice physics, morphology and radiometry, remote sensing and GIS in cryosphere environment, sea ice, avalanches, glaciers.~ 3.700 terms in English and Italian, other 8 languages partially available.
