Abstract:
A number of modification
s
and
enhancements
are underway on the RFX

mod Reversed field Pinch (RFP)
device
. The main scientific goals
motivating the modifications
are the improvement of
the confinement in
the
R
eversed
F
i
e
l
d
P
inch configuration
and the investigation
of
a broad spectrum of plasma physics
topics
, through
the
exploitation of the multi configuration capability of the
device, which can be operated as a
RFP, ultra low q,
circular and shaped tokamak
.
This paper describes the major
challenges
tackled to design technical solutions
able
to achieve
this
scientific mission.
