Selection of MPEG-7 image features for improving image similarity search on specific data sets

In this paper a technique for evaluating the effectiveness of MPEG-7 image features on specific image data sets is proposed. It is based on well defined statistical characteristics. The aim is to improve the effectiveness of the image retrieval process, based on the similarity computed on these features. THe technique is validated wirh extensive experiments with real users.
