Chemical characterization of ambient aerosol over the Tyrrhenian Sea

Chemical composition of the marine aerosol and its modifications due to the transport of continental aerosol were studied during a cruise of the oceanographic ship Minerva1, carried out in the Mediterranean Basin from 25 June to 13 of July 2015 in the framework of the project "Medoceanor 2015" (Figure 1). 17 samples of PM10, PM2.5 and PM1 were simultaneously collected during the cruise; 4 of them were carried out far from the coast and can be considered as representative of open sea conditions. Sampling time varied from 9 to 48 hours, as a function of the wind direction and of the residence time of the ship in front of a specific source.
