Waveguide fabrication in LiTaO3 by vapour-phase proton-exchange

Vapour-phase proton-exchange technique is applied to the fabrication of high-quality waveguides on LiTaO3. The refractive index profile, thr losses and the crystallographic phase of such waveguides are determined by means of optical characterisation and discussed.
