Abstract:
High resolution seismic stratigraphy of the Gulf of Pozzuoli and relationships with submarine volcanic units of Naples Bay are discussed to highlight volcanological implications on geological evolution of Phlegrean Fields volcanic complex. A new seismo-stratigraphic framework of the Gulf of Pozzuoli is provided based on geological interpretation of Sparker data. Land-sea correlation has been improved taking into account deep lithostratigraphic well data collected onshore in the Mofete and San Vito geothermal areas (Phlegrean Fields). The obtained results have allowed us to delineate the problems related to stratigraphy and volcanology of active volcanic districts of Southern Italy, referring in particular to Naples Bay.
