Ricognizioni infrasito e archeologia del paesaggio a Timmari, in M. Osanna, D. Roubis, M. Bileddo, Nuove ricerche sull'insediamento italico di Timmari

The post graduate School of Archaeology of Matera (UNIBAS) and the Superintendency for Archaeological Heritage of Basilicata, have started an intensive archaeological survey project in the hill of Timmari (Basilicata-MT) in collaboration with the German Archaeological Institute of Rome (planimetry and geomagnetic prospection). This article presents the first level of investigation, carried out by the School of Matera, which had as its objective an intrasite survey research of the plateau of Camposanto, one of those located on the hilltop where the ancient Timmari has extended. Regarding the intrasite survey of Camposanto area,the spatial analysis of all artifacts has allowed us to offer the first hypothesis on the main frequentation phases and to sketch both the extension area and the probable distribution areas of human occupation, from the prehistoric era until the late imperial period. Intensive archaeological field surveys are planned for the future in the remaining part of the hill and in the surrounding area, focused on the reconstruction of ancient and post ancient landscapes.
