Impiego di substrati sperimentali a base di reflui oleari per la coltivazione di funghi eduli

A study on the use of olive mill wastes based organic mixture, produced by an innovative technology recently developed by the ISAFoM-CNR of Perugia, for the cultivation of Pleurotus ostreatus (Jacq.) P. Kumm. is reported. Results in terms of growth capacity and carpophores production showed by the P. ostreaus on the experimental substrata have been compared with those obtained using organic media (wheat straw) usually employed in mushrooms cultivation. In addition, bio-phenols content on carpophores has been determined. With respect to control, the overall carpophores production, in terms of dry weight, obtained on the experimental substrata containing the highest percentage of olive mill wastes, was superior. In the same experimental mixture, a higher content of bio-phenols in the basidiocarps was also detected. Taking into account the well-known anti-oxidant nutritional properties of bio-phenols, this last result can be considered an added value of the product, without affecting negatively the organoleptic characteristics of basidiocarps.
