L'ausilio della documentazione fotografica e delle indagini diagnostiche nel restauro di alcune maioliche del museo Correr di Venezia

Contributo in Atti di convegno
Data di Pubblicazione:
2019
Abstract:
In 2018 the restorers of the Restoration Laboratory of the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza (MIC) restored a nucleus of eighteen Renaissance maiolica wares from the Museo Correr in Venice. In this section, we are examining the intervention concerning a lustre-ware jug made in the workshop of Master Giorgio Andreoli in 1525-1530 and two "istoriato" bowls, representing Adam and Eve and the myth of Diana and Actaeon, produced in Marche region in the second quarter of the 16th century. For each maiolica, the various restoration phases are described (dismantling of previous restoration work, cleaning, consolidation, assembly of fragments, formal and pictorial integration), highlighting the importance of historical photographic documentation to guide the choices of intervention. Some materials used in the previous restoration interventions were investigated with the aim of knowing the nature of these materials and verifying whether they are mixtures specially prepared. For this purpose, mineralogical analyzes by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA) were performed at ISTEC-CNR of Faenza
