Abstract:
Although they are complex, demanding for local governments and not easy-to-read for the public and private subjects involved, recovery and management of real estate assets play a decisive role in urban sustainability policies. In spite of the growing good practices the world over, the academic literature based on an increasing number of contributions in this field, recommends incorporating multiple engagement components.
With the aim of defining an useful assessment methodology to evaluate the impacts of urban transformation policies, the implementation of the SOCRATES (SOcial multi CRiteria Assessment of European policies) innovative MultiCriteria method and software tool implementation, as Decision Support System for the definition of urban policies has been proposed. The identification of the most suitable development policy options as regenerative strategies and building of a common understanding have been achieved.
