Low-invasive diagnosis of prothesis osseointegration by electrical impedance spectroscopy

Abstract:
A digital measurement method for low-invasive clinical diagnosis of prothesis osseointegration is proposed. The method overcomes current limits of biological electrical impedance analysis, such as: (i) resolution, by means of several polarization levels and spectrum interpolation based on suitably modified Kramer-Kronig transforms, (ii) noise, by means of a 7-parameters digital measurement technique and spectral filters based on Mexican hat and on modified Morlet Wavelet transforms, and (iii) electrical models of biological tissues, by means of evolutionary programming, based on a family of basic electrical sub-models and on their combination rules. © 2005 IEEE.
