Abstract:
An accurate analysis of Landfills is fundamental to improve decision making strategies for planning anthropic ac?vi?es. The op-
?miza?on of new techniques for the monitoring of landfills represents a crucial issue since usual inves?ga?on methods are expensive
and ?me-consuming. The applica?on of remote sensing improves the monitoring of different environmental matrices
and the assessment of gas and leachate migra?on. Reflectance spectroscopy approach can be adopted to inves?gate the
stressed vegeta?on or soil pollu?on due to waste deposits developing site-depending spectral indices which are linked to biochemicals
factors.
This paper describes a mul?-source approach based on the use of remote sensing data and spa?al processing techniques to
monitor the environmental condi?on around landfill. This approach was applied for the POR NO-GAS Project, funded in the
framework of the Innova?on hub "Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Technologies for the Sustainable Management of
environmental resources", focuses on emissions from landfills, both punctual and spread.
