The leaf-level emission factor of volatile isoprenoids: caveats, model, algorithms, response shapes and scaling

The critical issue of how to correctly determine and report the basal emission of BVOC from plants (Es) is critically analyzed to reduce the large spreading observed in the literature. A standardized procedure is proposed in which the main environmental and physico-chemical controls are included and ES values defined within the proper context of model structureand spatial and temporal resolution.
