The Casamicciola seismogenic fault responsible of the 2017 earthquake at Ischia Island (Italy): geological, seismological and geophysical constrains

Conference Poster
Publication Date:
2023
abstract:
We aim at constraining the source characteristics of the Casamicciola Terme active and capable fault system at the volcanic island of Ischia, Italy, to infer the seismic hazard of the island. On August 21, 2017, a shallow (depth of 1.2 km), moderate (Md = 4.0), earthquake hit the island, causing severe damage and two fatalities. This was the first damaging earthquake recorded on the volcanic island of Ischia from the beginning of the instrumental era.
