A Semantic Platform for Enterprise Knowledge Interoperability

In this paper, we propose a semantic platform based on knowledge interoperability services in order to promote business in enterprises as well as adjust their needs according to the recurrent changes in the business and exploit new opportunities. The main goal of the knowledge interoperability services is to realize efficient collaboration and cooperation in an enterprise cluster by identifying the key competences and skills of each enterprise, in order to fulfil emerging business opportunities. Our proposed platform is defined by three main services: the Social Ontology Building and Evolution service addressed to build a reference ontology (RO) about enterprise competencies with the support of knowledge extraction facilities and social participation of domain experts; the Enterprise Semantic Profiling service conceived to define profiles of enterprises in terms of the RO; the Enterprise Semantic Matchmaking service which implements a semantic similarity method operating on the defined profiles. The proposed platform is designed and realized in the context of the IP European project COIN (COllaboration and INteroperability in networked enterprise).
