Il mercato dei ceramici avanzati in Italia: situazione attuale e prospettive di sviluppo

The ceramic sector is much wider than one might think and it has strong impact on society and economics. Ceramics are usually connected only to tableware, sanitaryware, bricks and tiles. The best-informed know that ceramics are also used in technical applications such as spark plugs, substrates for catalytic converters, electric insulators, etc.. People who don't work in the ceramic sector are not aware of the many engineering applications where ceramics can be used and of their importance in the everyday life. For example, without ceramics mobile phones would not exist; optical fibres, backbone of the information transmission and responsible for a real technological breakthrough in the telecommunication area, make use of ceramic based technologies.
