Effect of a magnetic field on single ion to pair transfer in ruby

The ion-pair transfer in ruby was studied as a function of an applied magnetic field. The N1 and N2 transferred lines are found to behave quite differently. Some of the observed features are interpreted as being due to ion-pair level crossings, while other characteristics appear to be more difficult to explain.
