La «Legenda aurea» in volgare. Prove di edizione critica della versione fiorentina. San Giacomo apostolo (XCIV)

Since 2013, the LAI (Legenda Aurea in Italiano,) project is occupying a team of scholars who aim to prepare a critical edition of the most important Old Italian translation of Iacopo da Varazze's Golden Legend, a fourteenth-century Florentine text. The existing version, published by Arrigo Levasti in the years 1924-1926, is unreliable and based on a single ms., the Riccardiano (1254). This article offers a sample of the forthcoming critical edition, based on a new census of the ms. tradition: a selection of ten chapters preceded by an exposition of the criteria for the edition and of the results achieved until now.
