Abstract:
The world is undergoing a very serious social and economic crisis, in which Education Systems are strongly involved. The modern world and the current world work market, in fact, require several skills beyond knowledge: students must be prepared to face heterogeneous subjects, work with people with distinct educations and backgrounds and, thus, be strongly adaptable to different environments in rapid evolution. School is required to prepare the young to face these situations from at least two viewpoints. First, contents, technologies and methods must be revised in depth and adapted to the modern world quick changes. Second, the ever-growing need for a strong adaptability to different kinds of contexts and activities are leading educators to handle with a peculiar situation, where skills like evolvability and adaptability to changes ought to be learnt from the early school years. All such capabilities can be taught at school, for instance applying Emotional Intelligence techniques. The problem is here discussed and some practical examples given to help the students learn such methods.
