Caratteristiche biochimiche e biologiche di estratti vegetali ottenuti da coltivazioni organiche e convenzionali

Chapter
Publication Date:
2012
abstract:
In this work was carried out a comparative assessment in terms of total polyphenol content, total antioxidant activity, as well as antimutagenic properties of extracts from lettuce and spinach obtained from conventional and organic crops. In terms of total content of polyphenols, we did not notice a significant change between the two types of cultivation. Major differences were identified with regard to the antioxidant activity, which was higher in extracts from organic spinaches than in the conventional ones. In terms of antimutagenicity, it did not appear a clear trend that linked a higher capability of inhibiting the activity of mutagens to the type of agricultural practice.
