IL GRANCHIO DI FANGO DIASPANOPEUS SAYI (SMITH, 1869) È UN VISITATORE TEMPORENEO O RESIDENTE DELLA LAGUNA DI VARANO (FG) ?

The mud crab Dyspanopeus sayi (Smith, 1869) (Crustacea, Decapoda, Panopeidae), was studied in Varano lagoon at two different sites. 10 adult specimens were caught using traditional traps. An increase in catches was observed over time, as well as an extension of the distribution in the lagoon basin compared with previous observations. The results suggest that the species has found trophic and environmental conditions suitable for its survival.
