Variazione di alcuni parametri fisico-chimici in un sito di scarico dei sedimenti del porto di Livorno

A survey in the disposal site of the material dredged in the Livorno harbour was carried out to study the sediment texture variations caused by the dumping operations. During March 1992 nineteen sediment cores were collected; superficial and deeper part of the cores were sampled and grain size analysis were performed in all of them. The grain size distribution in the studied area shows a prevalent dispersion of coarser fractions to the northward and westward directions. The accumulation of the dredged material (thicker more than 20 cm in the central zone) is disposed in a wider zone than officially admitted. Moreover, the finer fractions seem to settled in the northern part of the dumping area, probably following the flow of the main regional currents.
