Drought severity evalutation in Calabria

Abstract:
A set of 129 homogeneous and complete rainfall series was selected in the Calabria region (southern Italy) for the period 1951-2006. Drought severity was analysed in the region through the application of the drought severity index (DSI). The main droughts events which affected the region were identified and one of the most severe was analysed in detail.
