Abstract:
In the southern end of Sardinia, low grade Mo-mineralizations occur in high silica intrusives throughout a granitic batholith of Hercynian age. Ores and alterations are usually centered on stocks of leucogranite-porphyry or fine grained varieties of leucogranites so that these metal showings can be considered porphyry-style mineralizations. Field, petrographic and geochemical investigations provided interesting relationships between the evolution of the magma and the nature of mineralizations. Mo and Sn enrichments in rocks coupled with the occurrence of the metal showings suggested a possible genetic relationship. At the Su Seinargiu prospect the Mo content in the quartz veins is about 1.05% while in the disseminated MoS2 resulted low but useful for future prospecting.
