Bioremediation for waste treatment.

Bioremediation techniques have been utilized in experiments performed in IBAF laboratories. In particular the process of composting was applied to olive mill wastes (OMW) to produce a safe compost used as soil amendant. The bioaugmentation technique was applied with the addition of ligninolytic mushrooms for the treatment of OMW, used as liquid medium, and for creosote treated wood (CTW), used as solid substrate. A consistent reduction of polluting substances was obtained.
