GEMS - Genoa Experimental Marine Station: a tool for research activity and technology transfer

Genoa Experimental Marine Station (GEMS) is included in CNR-ISMAR (Institute of Marine Sciences of the Italian National Research Council) infrastructures and is also part of CNR-Marine Platforms and Laboratories (CNR-MPL). This experimental station belongs to MARS Network-The European Network of Marine Research Institutes and Stations ( http://www.marsnetwork.org/ ) and is the only Italian facility of this type present in the Mediterranean Sea. The installation is placed inside the Genoa harbour (Ligurian Sea) and its facilities represent the best that can be offered for in field tests. For this reason, GEMS is under continuous improvement, upgrade and expansion and is widely used by the industrial sector and for research activities to perform ISO/ASTM tests.
