abstract:
The anodic codeposition of PbO2 and MnO2 was investigated. Simultaneous oxidation of Mn2+ and Pb2+ ions in an acetate bath yielded deposits containing crystalline MnO2 and PbO2, and probably a ternary amorphous phase. Deposits with a ratio Pn/Mn = 3/7 were easily obtained at T>50 °C, but no crystalline Pb3Mn7O15 or other mixed oxides formed in the as-deposited material. Oxide mixtures could be quantitatively converted to Pb3Mn7O15 by annealing at 800 °C.
