Abstract:
Abstract--Networking together hundreds or thousands of
cheap microsensor nodes allows users to accurately monitor a
remote environment by intelligently combining the data from the
individual nodes. These wireless networks require robust routing
protocols that are energy efficient and provide low latency.
Starting from the basic idea of classical LEACH (Low Energy
Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy), in this paper we introduce some
innovations in the algorithm giving origin to LEACH-B. LEACHB
presents a new strategy of cluster heads election and cluster
formation. Our results show that LEACH-B optimizes system
lifetime in a large range of situations and applications.
