Abstract:
Recently there has been a great deal of interest in double-resonance methods capable to
enhance the detection sensitivity of less sensitive nuclei such as "C in liquid system, in order to
study brain metabolism noninvasively. The main disadvantage of the existing 'H-observed/"C-editing
double resonance techniques, based on intermolecular short-range J-coupling interaction, is the
nontotal proton solvent elimination. The indirect "C-editing and spatial localisation in 10 mM solution
of enriched glucose in water, was obtained in our laboratory by means of the BLISS (bilinear
and linear interaction spin-selection and solvent suppression) sequence with total solvent elimination.
The sensitivity gain and the water suppression are here theoretically calculated and experimentally
verified.
