Abstract:
The worldwide economic crisis of 2008 ushered in a transitional phase for immigration in Italy. This complex process brought far-reaching change to the situation for migrants, generated by an indissoluble link with rapid and vertiginous changes to international migrant flows owing to the conflicts that broke out across the Middle East and North Africa. The article intends to reconstruct this new historical phase, highlighting mainly the developments of national migration policies and the related debate, especially with respect to the relationship with the European dimension
