Abstract:
Among the renewable energy sources, woody biomass offers advantages over
other traditional fossil fuels. In particular, regarding the emissions, biomass seems interesting
because of its lower ash, nitrogen and sulphur content. The present work has been developed as a
part of a two years project (BiQuEEn - financed by a local Foundation of Trentino region). The
final goal of the project is the efficient exploitation of energy from clean renewable spontaneous
biomasses in an innovative and optimized way. The aim of this section is the characterization of
the gaseous emissions of the spruce, which is one of the most widespread arboreal species in
Trentino-Alto Adige region, using a two staged -high efficiency- air gasifying wood stove. The
combustion technology adopted confirms that gasification technology significantly limits the
emission of unburned compounds.
